BANDFEST 2010
INFORMATION AND ENTRY

STOP PRESS - Bandfest 2010 FULL!!
Stage Plan due 4th June. Also a reminder to bring the Announcer's Sheet and Scores on the day!.

Engadine
Music Education Centre will once again present its Band Festival over two
weeks to meet the ever increasing demand.
This festival provides a great
venue at which school bands can perform and display their progress,
observe other bands in performance, assess their progress in relation to
other ensembles and receive comments from recognised experts. Once again
last years Bandfest exceeded our expectations.
St George Bank Auditorium will
be the venue for both weeks.
The aim of the festival is to
provide a learning experience for young musiciansthrough both listening and
performing, achieve a level of recognition for the players and the band
within their school and provide a fun performance experience in a
non-competitive environment.
Please note the significant
changes to forms, late fees and refunds.
.

fee. If you require us to organise MOORE’S TOURS we will

cheque until Engadine Music Education Centre invoices the school after

TRANSPORT
Engadine Music can organise bus

wish to use this offer, and we will send a quote to your school. For the
Kogarah venue, the cost for the local shire schools will be approximately $280. Middle distance schools (adjoining shires e.g.
Sutherland Shire schools) $320 and for further distances
we will negotiate with the bus company.
If you wish to utilise this bus
service please indicate and sign accordingly on the ENTRY FORM.
GUIDELINES
Bands can be of Brass, Stage,
Concert or Orchestral format.
Bands are scheduled every 20 minutes. To enable setup time, conductors should anticipate 10-12 minutes of stage playing time. Tuning can be done in the warm up room.
Music is own choice - there are no
set pieces.
Primary and high school bands of
all levels are welcome at the
festival.
A copy of each score of the music
played will be required for the adjudicator. These will be collected while
you are in the tuning and warm up room.
The Announcer's Sheet should also be handed in at this time.
TIME
The festival will run from 8.30am to
4pm each day. In some cases, schools may be allocated a time
finishing at 3.45 pm. There is a lunch break from 12 to 12.40
p.m. each day.
Time commitment at the venue for
each band will be approximately 1½ hours, during which you will have the
opportunity to listen to other bands. You may wish to stay longer (half
day) please advise us of this at time of entry. We will notify each band
of the required arrival time to be at the festival.
Note: After your band has played they return to the auditorium and then the adjudication is heard. Allow 45 minutes after your band performance if you are organising your own transport.
AUDIENCE
Parents may come and watch the
festival. They will be asked to be seated in the rear of the auditorium.
Parking in Kogarah is restricted so it
is advised to encourage parents to come via train, as the station is a
2-minute walk from the venue. Parking is rarely available in the street
